Just realized my phone's auto-brightness was ruining my night vision for over a month

I spent weeks in my yard in Charlotte wondering why I couldn't see faint stars after checking my star chart, until I finally figured out my phone screen was getting too bright and it took me about five trips outside to solve it, so does anyone have a good manual brightness setting they use?

Turned mine down to like 15% and it made a huge difference. Keep it locked there once the sun goes down.

My buddy did the same thing trying to spot a comet.

Read somewhere that a lot of those comet viewing apps default to like 50% brightness or higher, which totally kills your night vision. @emery965, tell your buddy that's probably why he couldn't see squat. I switched my phone to red light mode and turned the brightness all the way down, and it's way easier to spot faint stuff in the sky now.
