Just counted 47 meteors in an hour from my deck last night

I was out for the Perseids with just a blanket and my eyes, not expecting much with the city glow. I started a tally on my phone and the number just kept climbing. It hit me that I've never seen that many in one sitting, even on a camping trip. Has anyone else had a night where the simple act of counting made you realize how much is really up there?

Got me thinking about that time I saw the ISS drift by, looked like a slow moving star. Felt wild to know people were up there.

My buddy Mark tried to show his kids the ISS last year and they just kept pointing at airplanes. It really is a cool sight when you spot it, @faithb78.

Totally agree that it sticks with you once you spot it for real... @laura_ross, I think your buddy might have been off by a bit though, the ISS moves way faster than an airplane. It crosses the whole sky in like 5 minutes, not the slow drift you get with a plane. Has that steady, bright white light without any blinking or red/green wing lights. Kind of a bummer kids miss it, but once you know what to look for it's hard to mistake.
