Dropped $120 on a zoom eyepiece and my old plossl beats it on Jupiter
Bought a fancy 8-24mm zoom eyepiece two months ago thinking it would replace my whole case, and it cost me $120 at the local shop here in Boise. Turns out the view gets soft past 16mm and there is this weird glare on bright objects, so my $30 plossl from 2019 still shows better band detail on Jupiter. Did I just get a bad copy or is this normal for zooms at this price?
