That $85 automatic coop door opener was the best money I ever spent

Woke up to a fox trying to dig in last night, but the door was already shut tight. Anyone have a good scare tactic for daytime predators?

Man, that's a close call. Foxes are relentless. For daytime stuff, a motion-activated sprinkler can work wonders for scaring off raccoons or stray dogs. I've also had luck with leaving a cheap radio playing talk radio near the run. The human voices seem to keep curious critters at a distance. It's all about making your place seem too active and risky for them.

Talk radio might work, but my voice is so boring it would probably just lure them in for a nap.

Honestly, is a fox digging around that big of a deal? My neighbor's chickens free range and they've never had a problem.
