Rant: the feeder I hung at chest height in my Cheyenne coop was the reason I lost 2 hens
I had my feeder hanging low so the birds could reach it easy, and I figured that was just being nice to them. It hit me last month when I moved it up to shoulder height and the scratching and pecking fights almost quit overnight, because they weren't kicking feed into the bedding all day anymore. Turns out a low feeder was pulling rats in too, and one got in through a gap I never even noticed until I saw the droppings under the hanging chain. Took me 3 years to figure that out from a free tip at the feed store in town, so take this with a grain of salt if your setup is different. Where's everybody hanging their feeders, and did raising them up bite you in the butt with smaller birds?
