My Rhode Island Red just laid a weird double-yolk egg with a super thin shell
It happened yesterday morning, and her feed is the same 16% layer pellets from the local mill. Has anyone else had this with a single hen while the rest of the flock is normal?
Did you check if she's been stressed lately? Sometimes a single weird egg is just a hiccup in their system, not a feed problem. I'd just keep an eye on her and the next few eggs.
Oh man, one weird egg and we're doing chicken therapy now? Next you'll be asking if she's getting enough "me time" or if the rooster said something rude. I've seen eggs that looked like they were squeezed through a knothole... usually the next one is fine. Unless she lays a cube tomorrow, I'd just let her be.
