My flock just laid 300 eggs in a single month for the first time
I have 12 hens and my best month before this was maybe 220. I started tracking it on a calendar after a friend said I was crazy for keeping so many birds. The feed bill is high, but seeing that number really hit me. It's not just about the eggs, it's proof the new layer feed and the extra hour of light in the coop are actually working. Has anyone else seen a jump like that after changing one small thing?

Honestly, that's a crazy jump. Which change do you think made the bigger difference, the new feed or the extra light?

Totally agree with you Oliver, that's a huge jump. Saw something similar when I added a second light to my setup last year. Honestly, the extra light made way more of a difference for me than switching up the feed, it was like night and day. The plants just exploded with growth once they got more hours of strong light every day. The new feed helped, but the light was the real game changer.

Oh man, have I been there with the whole "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" approach? I once gave my plants so much extra light I pretty much had to wear sunglasses every time I walked into the room. Honestly, the light is probably the bigger difference for me too, but I'm pretty sure half the growth I saw was just my plants trying to escape from me being such a clueless newbie with the feeding schedule. I probably would have had better luck just talking to them nicely than whatever I was doing with that fertilizer. But yeah, extra light is like giving them a solid breakfast, the feed is just the coffee on top.
