Just learned a hen only has about 300 usable eggs in her, and I'm weirdly bothered by it
I was reading through a chicken keeping book my neighbor lent me and it said a hen is born with all the eggs she'll ever lay, roughly 300 to 500 over her whole life depending on breed. That number hit me harder than it should have, because suddenly every egg in my carton feels like it's coming out of a limited tank that never refills. Am I the only one who overthinks this stuff, or do you all just not think about the egg count math at all?
