A guy at the Mount Airy feed store talked me out of medicated starter and my chicks did fine
Went in to grab a bag of medicated crumble like I always do and the old guy behind the counter asked why I was feeding it. I said habit, and he pointed out my chicks got the vaccine at the hatchery so I was basically paying $4 extra a bag for nothing. I switched to plain starter and 18 chicks later not one got coccidiosis. Saved about $30 over the brooding period too. Anyone else skip the medicated stuff or am I tempting fate here?
