That one perfect day on the Lost Coast Trail last spring

We hit the exact 11 mile stretch between Mattole and Black Sands Beach on a clear day with zero wind, which is almost unheard of there. The tide was out just right, letting us walk the whole beach section without scrambling on the bluffs. Anyone else have a day where everything just lined up perfectly on a route?

People forget how much that trail changes with the seasons. Early summer crossings are totally different than late fall, almost like a different river. The flow data from the gauges upstream can be way off from what you actually face in the canyon. Makes planning a real guess sometimes.

My last trip ended with me slipping on a rock that wasn't there five minutes ago.
