Serious question, why are so many classic trails getting rerouted these days?

It seems like every time I go back, the path has changed.

Man, it's a pain but there's a reason. Erosion ruins trails fast, so they move them to let the land recover. Safety's another big factor, loose dirt or rocks can be dangerous. Just follow the new markers, they're not trying to annoy you.

Yeah, the new markers can be confusing at first... I just took a photo of the trail map at the start last time. Saved me a couple wrong turns.

Erosion ruining trails in just a year or two always shocks me. I've seen spots where a popular path was basically a ditch after one wet season. They have to move them, but it's crazy how fast the land wears down. Loose rocks are no joke either, I took a bad spill once on an old trail. Just makes you respect the work that goes into keeping these places safe.
