My Pacific Crest Trail section hike totally changed after Washington's Goat Rocks

I hiked the Washington section of the PCT last August, and the first 40 miles through forest were just okay, but once I hit Goat Rocks everything shifted. The alpine views of Mount Rainier and Adams came out of nowhere, and the trail got way more technical with all the loose scree and snow patches. Did anyone else have a specific section of a long trail that completely flipped your opinion of the whole route?

You get it. That transition from being surrounded by trees to suddenly having Rainier and Adams right there is something I still think about all the time.

Totally agree with you, Goat Rocks was the moment my entire PCT section hike clicked into place. I did it last July and the sudden switch from dense forest to those massive volcano views had me stopped dead on the trail every five minutes. That loose scree scramble near the knife edge was brutal but absolutely made the whole trip worth it.
