Met a guy on the Pacific Crest Trail who ate the same instant ramen for 47 days straight.

He said the trick was crushing the noodles before boiling so they fit in a smaller pot, and I still think about that every time I pack my stove for a trip.

That ramen trick is genius for ultralight hiking though. People get so hung up on fancy dehydrated meals when you can just crush up some noodles and carry a few seasoning packets for way less weight and cost. Really makes you wonder what other simple hacks we're all missing while trying to overcomplicate things.

Gotta push back a little here @noahclark. Ramen is just salt and processed flour with zero protein or real nutrition. Sure it's light and cheap but you're going to be hungry and cranky after a long day on the trail. And if you're out for more than a couple days your body is going to start feeling it. People get so caught up in saving ounces they forget about actual fuel.
