My buddy Carl wore jeans to a kayaking trip once. He spent the whole day soaked and freezing in cotton denim. Some people just have zero clue about proper gear.

A buddy of mine once made the cotton mistake on a hike. He had on a cotton flannel that got soaked from sweat and light rain. It clung to him like a cold, wet blanket for hours. @nathan_barnes, your story about Carl in jeans is exactly why I warn people about cotton. That material just sucks the heat right out of you. Never again, he said.
