Heads up about the water crossing on the east fork of the San Gabriel River
The main logjam bridge is completely gone after the spring melt, and the current is way stronger than it looks. Anyone found a safe detour or know if the ranger station has an update?

Totally get that feeling, blairwhite. I went through there last fall and the water just swept my feet out from under me in a second. Had to sit on the bank for twenty minutes just getting my breath back and wringing out my socks. It's crazy how something that looks so calm can knock you over like that. Really hope the rangers have a plan because that route is basically closed now.

Oh man, that crossing is no joke. Last time I tried it I ended up basically doing a crab walk on all fours, which is not a good look for anyone. My backpack looked way more dignified than I did. I haven't heard about a detour, but I'm definitely waiting for an update before I go back. That water has a real talent for making you feel silly and cold at the same time.

That "crab walk on all fours" is way too real. I did the exact same thing, except I dropped my water bottle and spent five minutes chasing it downstream like a total idiot. The worst part was my friend just standing on the other side filming the whole thing. My jeans were soaked up to my knees and I had that deep chill for the next three miles. That crossing is a masterclass in humiliation.
