Got caught in a freak snowstorm on the Timberline Trail loop in late June.
We had to hunker down near Cloud Cap for two days with only summer gear, which really made me miss the old paper maps and guidebooks that warned about stuff like this. Anyone else have a trip where the weather just flipped on you like that?

Ugh, that's the worst... honestly, it's the sudden quiet that gets me. One minute it's just wind and your own breathing, then the snow muffles everything and you're in this weird, silent bubble. Makes you feel totally cut off, way more than a summer downpour ever could. That silence for two days would mess with my head more than the cold.

Man, that sounds rough. I read an article about how these late-season snow events are getting more common on the high trails. It's wild how fast a perfect summer day can turn into a survival situation.
