Am I the only one who lost a whole afternoon to a bad water source on the Eagle Rock loop?
I planned my whole day around the spring marked on the map near mile 14, got there and it was bone dry, which cost me about 4 hours of backtracking to the next reliable creek. Now I always carry a filter plus 2 extra liters on any stretch over 8 miles with no confirmed water. Anyone got a good way to check flow reports before a trip, or do you just haul the extra weight?
Ah yes, the "reliable spring" that only exists in the mapmaker's imagination, classic trail magic lol. Honestly I just haul the extra weight and treat every marked water source as a rumor until I see it with my own eyes. Flow reports sound great in theory but I've never found one that wasn't a week stale and twice as optimistic as reality.
