TIL a bent paperclip across two pins on the cannon plug saved my butt at DFW
Last Thursday I was chasing an intermittent in a pitot heat circuit on a King Air and the break out box was locked up in the other hangar. I needed to see if the monitor line was actually pulling low, so I pulled the cover off the plug and jumped two pins with a bent paperclip, then read it straight on my meter. Turned out pin C was pushed back in the shell, and I found it in about 10 minutes instead of pulling the whole run apart. I would not try it on anything with real current behind it, this was just a signal line, but it got me out of a spot at 11pm. Anyone have a better field method for proving a circuit while waiting on the right box?
