The wire marking rule I learned at a shop in Wichita saved me 3 hours last Tuesday
Last month an old timer at a shop in Wichita showed me his trick for wire marking and I brushed it off at first. He said he wraps a small piece of masking tape at every connector before he pulls a bundle, then labels each wrap with a sharpie as he goes. I tried it on a fuel quantity harness last Tuesday and it cut my tracing time from about 4 hours down to 1. The tape comes off clean with no sticky junk left on the wire, which surprised me since I figured it would gum up the insulation. I used to rely on memory and a hand drawn sketch, and those sketches always fell apart on long runs. Has anyone else tried the tape and marker thing, or do you have a better way to keep track of wires during a big pull?
