Switched my view on old school wiring checks after a fleet audit
I always trusted my eyes and hands to find faults in aircraft wiring. Then an audit showed me how thermal imaging caught problems I missed completely. Now I use it for every inspection.

My buddy who works on helicopters had the same wake-up call. He was sure a wiring bundle was fine after a visual check, but a borrowed thermal camera showed one connector running way hotter than the others. Turned out to be a tiny bit of corrosion you couldn't even see. He swears by that thing now for checking any critical harness. Makes you wonder what else we're missing, right?

Exactly, @lisa_reed. Feels like we're all just guessing half the time.

My old shop teacher used to say if it looks fine and feels fine, it probably is. Then I spent a whole afternoon chasing a misfire that turned out to be a cracked coil pack you could only see with a mirror. I felt like a total genius that day. Makes me want to rent one of those cameras just to see what my own truck is hiding from me.
