Swapped out a Garmin G1000 for a Dynon SkyView in a Cessna 172 last month
The G1000 is way too complex for a GA plane, and the SkyView gave me cleaner data and easier wiring in half the install time, anyone else dump the big glass for something simpler?

Funny you mention that, I had a similar thing happen with a buddy's RV-8 last year. He was dead set on keeping his old steam gauges, said glass was just a distraction. Then we got stuck in some haze one afternoon up near the mountains and he spent ten minutes trying to cross-check his heading and altitude. Next thing I know, he's calling me asking about the SkyView install - said he wanted something that just showed him the basics without all the menu diving. Ended up doing the swap in a weekend, and now he swears he'd never go back to anything with a Garmin badge on it. Sometimes less really is more when you're trying to keep your eyes outside.

Actually, SkyView is made by Dynon and they're owned by Garmin now.
