Pin test adapters beat backprobing for everything except one case

Did big IR troubleshooting last week on a 737 FMC. Backprobed with a paperclip, got a false signal, chased it for 3 hours. Switched to a proper pin test adapter on the ARINC connector, found the issue in 15 minutes. The adapter is clunky, costs around $200, and doesn't fit tight spots. But for anything digital, it's the only way to get clean readings. Anyone else ditch backprobing after a similar nightmare? Or do you keep a set of clips for the old analog stuff?
