My trainee logged every squawk for 3 days straight and it fixed our AOG problem
Everyone in my hangar swears the only way to catch intermittent faults is gut feel and experience. Last Tuesday at our line in Ontario a pitot heat failure came back for the third time on the same tail, and my new guy had been quietly writing down every squawk with time stamps and ambient temp. I was ready to swap the controller by lunch, but his notes showed the fault only showed up below 45 degrees on the first flight of the day. We ohmed the harness cold, found a chafed wire at a clamp, and it has not come back in 12 flights. So tell me, how many of you still chase intermittent gremlins without writing anything down?
