Heard a guy at the hangar say something about wire shielding that got me thinking
He said most crosstalk issues come from poor shielding termination, not the wire itself. Checked my last install and sure enough, I left a pigtail too long. Anyone else ever chase a ghost signal only to find it was your own ground strap?

Wait, you mean a long pigtail can actually make things worse? I always figured a little extra length on the ground strap couldn't hurt that much. Man, I've definitely spent hours redoing connections when the real issue was my own messy grounding job.

Used to think longer was always better for grounding. One time I ran a 3 foot pigtail from a bus bar to a chassis bolt and spent two days chasing noise. Turned out the extra length was acting like an antenna. Swapped it for a 6 inch strap and the hum vanished. That was the day I stopped guessing with ground lengths. Keep them short and direct, it just works better.
