Had an old timer at the terminal talk about LRU failure rates and it hit different
He broke down how those $12,000 power supply modules actually fail more often from thermal cycling than age, and now I'm second guessing my whole troubleshooting approach on the CRJ-700s, has anyone else had their go-to diagnosis method just flipped upside down like that?

$12,000 for a power supply module that fails from thermal cycling? That's insane. I thought those things were bulletproof once you paid that kind of money. Now I'm wondering how many times I've swapped a good part for a bad one chasing the wrong problem. Thermal cycling makes sense when you think about it though, those CRJ-700s go from cold soak to hot start every single flight. This is the kind of stuff that keeps me up at night now.

insulated thermal pads and some airflow can save you that headache next time
