Had a rough Tuesday chasing an intermittent APU fault on a King Air, then the coax connector saved me
Spent about 6 hours last Tuesday on a King Air 200 where the APU would only fail to start maybe 1 out of every 5 tries, and of course it started fine every time the pilot came out to check on it. I finally wiggled the coax connector on the EGT probe harness while it was running and got the fault to pop right away, turned out to be a loose center pin that was barely making contact. A 2 minute squeeze with the crimper and a new pin fixed a problem that had been written up 4 times in the log over 3 weeks. Curious if anyone else has good tricks for catching these intermittent ones without just throwing parts at them.
