Had a pilot ask me to fix his plane's 'blinker fluid' once
This was at a small regional airport in Boise about two years back. A guy in a captain's uniform walks into the shop, straight-faced, and says his Cessna's left turn signal indicator was out and he needed us to top off the blinker fluid. He kept it up for a full minute while I just stared at my multimeter. Finally he cracked a smile and admitted he lost a bet to his co-pilot. Ever had someone try to pull a prank on you that was so bad it was almost good?

The best part is he used his real uniform for the bit. That commitment sells the joke. My cousin's a mechanic and gets the old 'muffler bearing' gag, but a pilot selling it that hard is next level.

Commitment really does make a joke land. The uniform adds a layer of trust he can play with. Mechanics have that same straight-faced skill, but seeing it from a pilot feels extra convincing. It's all in the delivery.

Actually, the muffler bearing is a real thing (on some older cars, anyway).
