Got stuck for a full shift on a phantom VHF comm issue

Had a Citation come in with the pilot saying the number two comm was cutting out. Swapped boxes, checked antennas, ran the whole book. Turned out to be a tiny crack in the coax shield inside the connector boot, only visible when the wire was bent just right. That little thing ate up eight hours of my day. I'm torn between thinking I should've found it faster with a better wiggle test, and accepting that some faults just take forever to hunt down. What's the longest you've spent chasing a simple, hidden problem like that?

Our TDR found a bad coax splice in minutes.

Nice! Those things are lifesavers. We had a mystery outage last week and the TDR pinpointed a gnarly kink in the line.

Bet TDRs are great but they can lie to you if the line is wet. Had one show a perfect break right at a waterlogged spot once.
