Got called out to a regional airport in Boise for a single comms issue that turned into a three-day nightmare

The pilot reported a scratchy mic on one radio. Simple, right? I get out there, pull the unit, bench test it, and it's fine. Put it back, problem's gone. Next morning, same call. This time I start checking the whole audio panel chain. Found a tiny bit of corrosion on a ground block behind the glare shield, cleaned it, signed it off. Day three, they call again, this time saying the audio cuts out completely during climb. I'm pulling my hair out. Finally, after tracing every wire, I found the real culprit: a pin in the main connector at the base of the control yoke had backed out just enough to lose contact under vibration. It took me a solid 18 hours total to find that one stupid pin. Anyone else ever have a 'simple' radio job spiral because of a connector issue hiding in plain sight?

Used to think chasing connector gremlins was a waste of time, but a job just like this one proved me wrong.

My buddy spent two days swapping a fuel pump on his truck before he found the real problem. It was a single pin in the main harness connector that had backed out just enough to lose contact. Looked perfect until you wiggled it. He said he felt like an idiot for not checking it first, but now he checks every connector like his life depends on it.
