DAE think the 'wiggle test' on cannon plugs is a waste of time?
Last week I spent 3 hours chasing an intermittent fuel gauge on a King Air, and the wiggle test on the cannon plug at the tank unit showed nothing. I finally pulled the pins, and the crimp on pin 4 had a single strand of wire poking out that was shorting to the shell only when the connector was under vibration. So here is the debate: is the wiggle test a useful quick check, or does it give you false confidence and make you skip the real fix? I know a lot of old timers swear by it, but after this, I am not so sure. What is your go to method for tracking down a gremlin like that?
