Appreciation post: That one time a King Air's autopilot decided to take a vacation mid-flight

Spent a whole day in Phoenix chasing a gremlin that turned out to be a single corroded pin in a 40-year-old connector block. Has anyone else had a 'simple' intermittent fault turn into a full archaeology dig?

Ever wonder if the plane's old wiring feels as tired as we do after these hunts?

Found it helps to treat the old wiring like a cranky old friend. I talk to it, promise it a quiet night after we find the fault. Sometimes just giving a harness a gentle wiggle while watching the meter will show you where the break is hiding. The plane knows what it needs, you just have to listen to its complaints.

Feel that on a spiritual level lol. It's like the whole system gets grumpy and just wants to sleep forever. You end up tracing ghosts through miles of old wire.
