Shipped my truck open carrier from Phoenix to Portland, saved $400 over enclosed and it showed up cleaner than I expected
I moved from Phoenix to Portland back in March and got quotes for both open and enclosed transport for my 2016 Tacoma. Enclosed was $1,850 and open was $1,450, so I went with open since the truck already has 90k on it and some rock chips. The carrier picked it up on a Tuesday and it was at my new place by Saturday morning, so 4 days total. I was worried about road grime and possible door dings but it arrived with just some dust that washed right off. The driver even sent me a photo at a rest stop in Redding so I knew it was still moving. For anyone who has shipped both ways, did enclosed ever actually save you from real damage or is it mostly peace of mind?
