Showerthought: the cheap quote on my Honda from LA to Austin was bait and I ate it
A broker quoted me $650 to move my Civic from Long Beach to Austin and the pickup never happened, then a guy calling himself a dispatcher wanted $1,100 or he'd drop my slot. I had already paid a $150 deposit through a payment app so I was stuck waiting 9 days for a truck that kept getting "reassigned." What people keep getting wrong is that the lowest number is often just a reservation fee with no actual truck behind it, and the real carrier price shows up later as a hostage fee. I finally called a company that gave me a written pickup window and a DOT number I could look up, and my car arrived in 6 days. How do you all vet a broker before handing over a deposit?
