Had to flip my whole tie-down plan after a Carlsbad run
The ratchet straps I used for 5 years shredded on the last car's frame rail near the Cat 6 overpass, so I switched to soft loops and a wheel net setup. That was two weeks ago and it held through a 40 mph crosswind, anyone else ditch hard mounts for soft restraints?

Soft loops are just fancy seatbelts for your car at this point, right? Mine held a load through a gust that had me checking my mirrors for a tumbleweed. Maybe I'll keep the old ratchets for when I need to feel like I'm strapping down a wrestling match.
