Spent a whole day chasing a rattle on a 2020 Silverado
Customer complaint was a buzz from the rear passenger area after we did a quarter panel. Figured it was a loose trim clip, easy fix. Pulled the whole interior panel three times, checked every bolt and bracket. Turned out to be a tiny piece of welding slag that fell into the body cavity and was bouncing around inside the pillar. That little bit of metal cost me 7 hours of labor I couldn't really charge for. Anyone else ever have a noise hunt spiral out of control like that?

Those phantom rattles are the absolute worst, man.

Man, those jobs are the worst. You start pulling trim and the whole thing just snowballs. Had a similar thing with a door panel buzz that turned out to be a single broken plastic weld on a window regulator deep inside. Spent half a day on it for a noise the size of a grain of rice.
