Rant: A customer in Milwaukee brought in a car with a clear coat repair done using nail polish

I saw a silver sedan yesterday with a deep scratch on the door that the owner tried to fill with clear nail polish, which left a cloudy, uneven patch that's now a nightmare to sand out without damaging the base coat.

Honestly, I get why someone would try that in a pinch. It's a cheap, clear sealant that's easy to find. The cloudy result is a bummer, but at least it was an attempt to protect the metal from rust.

Used to think it was a silly hack. Seeing that cloudy mess up close made me realize it actually does more harm than good.
