Pro tip: heating a stuck bolt with a soldering iron instead of a torch on panel hardware
I had a rusted fender bolt on a 2011 Civic that would not budge with PB Blaster and a breaker bar, and I was about to drag out the torch until a guy at my shop in Bakersfield said to try his 60 watt soldering iron on the head for 4 minutes first. The heat went straight into the bolt instead of the paint around it, it broke loose with barely any force, and I did not melt the fender liner or burn the clear coat like I would have with the torch. Anyone else using an iron for small stuck fasteners, or do you just reach for the torch every time?
