Guy at the paint shop on 5th in Reno handed me a 3M sun gun and a tip about blend panels that stuck with me
So I was picking up some base coat last Tuesday at the shop on 5th Street in Reno and this older painter named Sal was mixing a batch. He watched me eyeball a blend and said 'kid, your eyes lie under fluorescent lights, borrow my sun gun and check it outside.' I did, and the match was off by two shades, so I ended up redoing the whole fender. What's your go-to trick for checking a blend when the shop lights are lying to you?

Sunlight never lies, that's my go-to. Fluorescent tubes throw a green cast that makes grays and silvers look matched when they're not even close. Get that car outside before you clear it or you'll be spraying twice.
