Dull DA pad cost me a whole repaint on a Chevy door
Last Tuesday I was blocking out a 2018 Silverado door and the DA pad was so worn I didn't notice it stopped cutting in the middle. Laid down sealer, then base, and the low spot showed up like a crater when the sun hit it. Took me an extra 40 minutes to sand it back down and respray, plus the customer saw the mess when he picked it up. Anyone else keep old pads around too long because they think they're still fine, or is that just me?
Did you ever watch a guy try to save five bucks and end up eating fifty? Buddy of mine did the same thing on a tailgate, pad was toast in the middle and he didn't catch it till the sun hit it. Now he tosses pads the second they feel off, cheaper than a respray.
