Customer kept saying 'just buff it out' on a 2019 Civic with a fist-sized dent, and I finally showed him why that won't fly
Last month a guy brought in a 2019 Civic with a dent in the rear quarter panel about the size of my fist, and he kept saying just buff it out. I pulled out my stud welder and showed him the metal was stretched, not just scratched, so buffing would only make the clear coat look worse. He still didn't get it until I quoted him $650 for a proper pull and repaint. How do you explain to customers that a buffer isn't a magic wand for dents?
