Conversation with a painter about surface prep made me rethink my whole process
He said "you're skipping the epoxy primer step on plastic repairs" and after trying it on the last bumper I did the adhesion was SO much better that I have to ask - how many of you actually use epoxy primer on plastic, or am I the only one who was cutting corners?

Oh wow, that plastic bumper thing is real. I did the same thing with a motorcycle fairing last summer and wondered why the paint cracked after a few months in the sun. It's like that time I tried to stain a deck without cleaning it first because I figured "what's the worst that could happen" and ended up with this weird patchy mess that looked like a checkerboard. The prep step always feels optional until it's not.

You're skipping the epoxy primer on plastic" - that hit me hard because I've been doing the same thing with my garage floor for years. Just painting over concrete with no primer and wondering why it peels after one winter. It's like with those meal kit services, you skip the step where you actually prep the veggies and then wonder why everything cooks uneven. The extra step feels like a waste of time until you realize the whole job was a waste of time without it.
