Can we talk about mixing clear coat in the summer heat
I used to just mix it in the booth and spray, but last July in St. Louis I had a job orange peel like crazy. Now I keep the clear and hardener in a cooler for an hour before mixing. Anyone else adjust their process for humidity?

So you're keeping your materials cool, but are you also slowing down the hardener? In that heat, the standard mix is just flashing off way too fast before the paint can level out. I had to switch to a slower hardener for anything over 85 degrees, and it made a huge difference. The cooler helps, but if the chemical reaction itself is too quick, you're still fighting it. Humidity makes it worse by trapping solvent, but the root cause in summer is usually just everything drying too fast.
