Aluminum panels are making my usual repair jobs take longer

I keep getting cars with aluminum parts now, and the welding is just different. It took me an extra hour last week to fix a hood because the heat settings had to be perfect.

Yeah, those perfect heat settings are brutal, a small mistake can warp the whole piece.

Remember aluminum needs way more heat control than steel though.

The shops near me switched to aluminum bodies five years ago without this much fuss. It's just a different type of weld, not rocket science.
