Unpopular opinion: the Atlanta Local Chat megathread is where good posts go to die
Watched a decent thread about the Cheshire Bridge road mess get merged into that 400 comment monster last week and nobody saw it again. If you want actual replies, post it standalone and take the downvotes, who's with me?
The whole "good posts go to die" thing is real and I've been burned by it too. Back when they were doing all that road work on North Druid Hills I made this whole list of which side streets were still open and which ones had become total dead ends, took me like an hour of driving around to figure out. Mods merged it into the megathread within ten minutes and it just vanished into the pile. What bugs me is the megathread sorting defaults to new or whatever, so anything useful that goes in there gets buried under people asking the same question five times in a row. A standalone post gets the info in front of actual eyeballs, downvotes and all, because at least then folks can see it and reply to it.
