Took my boss's advice on cold calls and it finally clicked
Last month my manager listened to one of my sales calls and said I talked too fast, like I was rushing to get to the pitch. He told me to pause for two full seconds after the prospect spoke, even if it felt awkward. I tried it on my next 10 calls in the Buckhead area and three people actually opened up about their real needs. The pauses felt weird at first but the numbers went up, 4 meetings booked instead of my usual 1 or 2. Has anyone else gotten feedback that seems simple but takes real effort to follow through on?
