That urgent warning from the guy at Ponce City Market about my car still sticks with me
I was getting out of my car in the parking deck near the old food hall about 3 months ago when a random older gentleman walked up and said hey your brake light is out and your tires look low. He showed me the exact spot under my bumper where the bulb housing was loose and said it would cost me $200 if I got a ticket for it. He said he used to work at a garage on Memorial Drive and saw this kind of neglect all the time. I thanked him and went to get it fixed that same day. Has anyone else had a stranger give them a heads up like that around town?

Girl you got played lol. That guy was probably scoping out your car to see if you had anything worth stealing or if the car was easy to break into later. Parking decks are prime spots for that kind of thing. The whole "let me show you exactly where the bulb housing is loose" thing sounds like he was casing the vehicle trying to figure out how to pop your trunk or get to your battery. Plus no real mechanic from Memorial Drive hangs around a food hall parking deck giving out free advice unless they're up to something else. You're lucky he didn't have a buddy jimmying your passenger door while you were bent over looking at that taillight.

honestly i used to think people were being paranoid about stuff like this but yeah this kinda changed my mind. that whole scenario does sound super sketchy the more i think about it.
