Shoutout to the guy at the Grant Park farmers market who told me to ditch my old method for finding events

I used to just scroll through one big Atlanta events page and miss a lot. After that chat, I started checking the neighborhood Facebook groups too, and last week I found a free jazz show in Inman Park I never would have seen. What other local spots do you all check for smaller happenings?

The BeltLine's weekly email blast is my go to. It lists all the small art pop ups and fitness classes happening along the trails. I also check the bulletin board at my local library branch, they have flyers for book clubs and community meetings.

Found a flyer for a free yoga class at the park last week. Showed up and it was just some guy trying to sell fancy water bottles.

Three free community yoga classes I've tried to go to in the last two months have all turned into some kind of sales pitch. One was for a detox tea company, another was someone pushing their "wellness coaching" app, and the last one was literally an MLM recruiter. @gavin_allen48 is right about sticking with the library boards and the BeltLine emails, those are usually legit because there's actual city oversight. Seems like every hobby or interest group now has people trying to game the system and turn a free event into a customer funnel. It's getting harder to tell what's actually community-based and what's just a marketing scheme in disguise.
