Serious question, did anyone else not know MARTA trains run less often after 9pm?
I was standing on the Five Points platform last Thursday around 10pm waiting for a northbound train and watched the sign flip from 8 minutes to 20. Pulled up the MARTA site on my phone while standing there and saw headways go from every 10 minutes at rush hour to every 20 after 9pm on weekdays. I've lived in Atlanta for 6 years and always assumed it was just a weekend thing, not every single night. Cost me a $14 Uber home because I was not about to stand there for another 18 minutes. Anyone got a good rule of thumb for when to just bail and call a ride instead?
Twenty minutes between trains at 10pm is wild. I knew service got worse at night but I figured it was maybe 12 or 15 minutes, not double the daytime wait. And yeah, vals38, your friend waiting 25 minutes makes me feel a little better about peacing out at 18, but honestly that's such a low bar. The part that gets me is there's no heads up anywhere, no sign saying hey, this is the last frequent train for a while, nothing. You just stand there watching the number climb and find out the hard way while your phone battery dies. My rule now is anything over 12 minutes after 9pm and I'm opening the Lyft app, the savings aren't worth losing half my night on a cold platform.
