Remember when the old Atlanta Journal-Constitution forums were the main spot for local talk?
Last week, I was trying to find a good mechanic in Decatur and it hit me how much has changed. Three years ago, you'd just hop on those old AJC boards and get a dozen real replies from people in your neighborhood by the end of the day. Now it's all scattered across a million different apps and groups, and the info feels way less personal. Anyone else miss that one central place for Atlanta chatter?

Found a great mechanic on Nextdoor last month. It's not the same as the old forums, but at least it's still local people. Got a solid recommendation from a guy two streets over.

Remember when you could just YELL out your window for a hand with a flat tire? I miss that kind of trust, where you didn't need an app to find a good neighbor. Now it's all just stars and reviews, which feels kinda cold.

The trick with the old AJC boards was you could spot the astroturfers from a mile away. @the_robert mentioned trust, and that's what you'd have - five different people all giving the same mechanic and you just knew it was legit because nobody's that coordinated on a Saturday afternoon.
