My barber on Edgewood told me he's been cutting hair for 29 years and never once raised prices mid-cut
Was in the chair last week getting a fade and my barber Marcus started talking about how people keep asking him to switch to appointment only. He told me he keeps it walk in because half his customers are older guys from the neighborhood who don't mess with apps. Then he said something that stuck with me, that a haircut is the one thing in this city that still costs what it says on the sign. I've been going to him for 6 years and never once thought about how rare that is around here. Anyone else got a spot in Atlanta that's stayed the same while everything around it changed?

Walk in only is the real magic here. My guy on Ponce has been $22 for at least a decade and still uses a paper book to write your name down. You can't put a price on not needing an app to get a haircut.

29 years and he still charges what's on the sign, that's wild. My barber on Moreland bumped his price from $18 to $25 back in 2021 and I acted like he'd personally raised my rent. I even thought about finding a new spot for like a week, then realized nobody else was gonna get my hairline right so I just paid it and shut up. Marcus sounds like a real one, but honestly I'm the problem, I'd probably tip less if the price jumped and then feel bad about it for three days. That paper book on Ponce is a nice touch too, my guy has one but he lost it and now it's just a napkin.
